Multi-Objective Optimization of an Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motor with Arc-Shaped Magnets

To get a better electromagnetic performance of an axial flux permanent magnet brushless DC motor (AFPMBLDC), AFPMBLDC with arc-shaped magnets and its multi-objective optimization design are researched. Firstly, the main parameters proposed, initial designs carried out according to given requirements. Furthermore, pole arc coefficient, thickness, radius, air-gap length selected as factors. Then, orthogonal experiment table is established, in which density, no-load back EMF, harmonic distortion rate, output torque ripple targets. The Taguchi method adopted optimize indexes optimal obtained. Finally, optimized model constructed, some simulations verify design. research results have shown that density reduced 31.8%, total rate EMF less than 7.5%, 4.3%.
